The ID verification module from TransUnion verifies ID numbers against the Population Register. In this way the use of false IDs, or those belonging to deceased or emigrated persons, can be avoided. Identity numbers which are genuine are verified.
A search can be performed by providing a surname and South African ID number as search criteria.
The ID verification result will include identification information about the ID in the search, the verification code, and a verification description of why the search was or was not successful.
- Select ‘TransUnion ID Verification’ from the ‘Person’ or ‘Credit Bureau’ offering on the search Menu.
- Supply required search criteria and select ‘Search’.
An ID verification search can also be done as part of a TransUnion Consumer Profile search.
TransUnion ID Verification is a credit bureau search, requiring WinCredit activation to make searches but does not require consent.
