TransUnion’s non-footprinting trace search offers the most flexible input for finding someone. The TransUnion Trace aims to provide the most recent contact information from South Africa’s leading Credit Bureau.
Tracing can be done for the following NCA Prescribed Purposes:
- Tracing by a Credit Provider/Agent
- Fraud, Corruption or Theft Investigation
- Fraud Detection and Fraud Prevention
- Unclaimed funds distribution
The search can be made based on these flexible search criteria options:
- Name
- ID number (recommended if available)
- Date of birth and surname
- Address and surname
- Phone number (cellphone or landline)
A trace result may contain the following information:
Personal Summary
This section includes the individual’s full name, ID number, date of birth, sex, marital status and ID status (alive or deceased).
Also Known As Names
Other recorded names at a credit bureau matching the search criteria are noted in this section with the date the information was recorded.
Addresses
The last known residential addresses are provided, including an Update Date to indicate the age of the data displayed.
Telephone numbers
The last known work, home and cell numbers are provided, including an Update Date to indicate the age of the data displayed.
Employers
The last known employers are provided, including an Update Date to indicate the age of the data displayed.
How to perform a TransUnion Trace
- Select ‘TransUnion Trace’ under the ‘Credit Bureau’ offering on the search Menu.
- Supply required search criteria.
- Select one of the 4 Prescribed Purposes for tracing and select ‘Proceed’. You will receive a list of 20 possible matches based on the criteria supplied.
- Select the correct person from the list and select “Search”.
Please note: There is no charge if TransUnion does not know about the individual and it does not appear in the list. If the name is on the list, this means that TransUnion has some information on that person and it is a chargeable search (regardless of how much or how little information is provided).
The TransUnion Trace is a credit bureau search, requiring WinCredit activation.
